Planning

Planning banners for a busy exhibition

Exhibition halls are busy, so a banner has a few seconds to attract attention. Good planning matters as much as the display equipment you choose, whether you are one of many businesses exhibiting or running the event.

  • Put your logo and one short message at eye level and above, where it stays visible over tables and visitors
  • Use a wide banner or fabric graphics as your exhibition backdrop, then add a roller banner stand at the front edge for maximum visibility
  • Check the venue rules early. Event organisers often ask for fire rated materials to meet venue safety compliance
  • Choose portable display stands that are easy to transport, with a carry bag for transport and storage between exhibitions and events
  • Keep custom graphics consistent across every banner so your brand visibility builds across the whole stand

Frequently asked questions

What is the best banner for an exhibition?
For a first-time exhibitor, a roller banner is the best value and fastest to set up. Choose a tension fabric display for a premium look or a B1 fire rated graphic, and a wide banner if you need a backdrop.
How many banners do I need for my stand?
As a guide, one or two banners suit a small space or a table, while a 3m stand often uses a wide backdrop with a banner at each side. Measure your exhibition space and leave room for visitors to walk in.
Are exhibition banners fire rated?
It depends on the type. Soft Touch and Pegasus fabrics, pop-out banners and desktop flags are B1 rated, the Wedge is Class 1, and standard roller banner graphics are not fire rated. Check your venue rules before you order.
Can I use exhibition banners outdoors?
Some. Pop-out banners, the Blizzard and the outdoor roller banner are suitable for outdoor use. Most roller banners and fabric frames are for indoor use only.
What is the difference between a roller banner and a fabric banner?
A roller banner stores its printed graphic in a cassette inside the base for quick setup. A fabric banner uses dye sublimated fabric on a frame, which gives a richer print and often a fire rating, but takes a little longer to put up.
Do you sell PVC banners?
The Blizzard outdoor banner uses a 440gsm PVC graphic that is water resistant. Our roller banners use grey backed block out media and our fabric banners use polyester.
Can I print on both sides?
Yes on many models. There are double sided roller banners, tension fabric displays, pop-out banners and Wedge panels for open stands where visitors pass on both sides.
How do I supply artwork?
Use the template on the product page and send a print-ready PDF in CMYK. Free artwork design or proofing is included on every order.
How quickly can I get my banners?
Printed and dispatched within 5 days with express options available, so you can order close to the event.
