A feather flag, also called a feather banner or sail flag, is a tall, narrow banner with a curved top, held taut by a lightweight fibreglass pole that runs through a sleeve along one edge. Our custom feather flags are available in three ranges, so pick the one that fits where it will stand and how you will carry it.

Zoom+ flags come as a printed flag and pole, or as a set with the right base for the ground. Every size is available single or double sided.

Printing and feather flag bases

Our fibreglass feather flag kits are made from 115gsm knitted polyester, fire rated to DIN 4102-1 B1 and rated for winds of 18 to 22mph. Zoom+ flags are printed on 110gsm flag knit and should come down if the wind rises above force 4 on the Beaufort scale. Flags are printed in eye-catching full colour, so photos, gradients and brand colours all work. Choose single-sided or double-sided printing, then pick from our base options for where the flag will stand.

  • Single sided flags are printed through the fabric, so the reverse shows a mirror image. The lightest, lowest cost option.
  • Double-sided flags are two prints stitched together with a silver interlining that stops show-through, so text reads correctly from both sides.
  • Grass and soft ground use a screw spike or ground spike.
  • Pavements and hard floors use the small water base for flags up to 3m or the large water base for taller kits.
  • Indoor floors can also use a square steel plate base for flags up to 3.2m.
  • Forecourts use a car wheel base that sits under a parked car.

Frequently asked questions

What is a feather flag used for?
Feather flags are designed to draw attention to your brand outside shop fronts, garden centres and car dealerships, and at outdoor events, sports days and trade shows. The tall shape gives a large vertical print area that is easy to read from a distance.
Which size feather flag should I choose?
Shorter flags are ideal for shop fronts, so a 2.4m kit suits entrances and receptions. A 3.0m flag is a good all round size. Choose 4.0m or 5.2m for roadsides, car parks and large outdoor sites where the flag needs to be seen from further away.
Can I buy feather flags with base and pole?
Every feather flag comes with its fibreglass flag pole, and the kits include a drawstring bag. Bases are sold separately so you can match the base to the ground: a spike for grass, a small or large water base for hard ground, a square base such as our steel plate base indoors, or a car wheel base on a forecourt.
Can feather flags be used indoors and at trade fairs?
Yes. The fibreglass kits are made for indoor and outdoor use and are fire rated to DIN 4102-1 B1, which helps with venue rules at exhibitions and trade fairs. On a hall floor, use a water base or plate base rather than a spike.
How windy can it be?
The fibreglass feather flag kits are rated for wind speeds of 18 to 22mph, and Zoom+ flags should come down above force 4 on the Beaufort scale. In stronger winds we recommend taking the flag down to protect the pole and fabric.
Should I choose single or double sided?
If people will mostly see the flag from one side, such as against a wall, single sided is fine. On a roadside or in an open space, double sided printing means your text reads correctly from both directions.
Is the feather flag easy to assemble?
Yes. The pole comes in sections that push together without tools, the flag slides over the pole and the pole sits in the base. The drawstring bag keeps everything together for transport.
Are other flag shapes available?
Yes. Our fibreglass flags are available in teardrop, bold, curve and rectangle shapes too, with the same fabric, pole and bag. A teardrop flag holds a rounded shape in light wind and suits a short logo, while blade flags have a straight outer edge.
